Saxitoxin (PSP) ELISA Test Kit (CH 98013) is a competitive enzyme immunoassay for the quantitative analysis of Saxitoxin in mussels and water samples.
About Saxitoxin
Saxitoxin, the principal component of paralytic shellfish poisons (PSP), blocks sodium ion channels in nerve and muscle membranes. The lethal dose in humans is 1 to 3 mg, with numbness and respiratory paralysis occurring after oral ingestion of as little as 0.5-1.0mg saxitoxin.

Shellfish Sample Preparation
  1. Remove shells and extract meat. Homogenize the meat samples
  2. Weigh 10g of homogenized samples into a 50mL centrifuge tube
  3. Add 20mL of 0.1M hydrochloric acid, vigorously shake and mix well, and heat in boiling water bath for 5 minutes
  4. After samples cool down, centrifuge at 4000r/min at room temperature for 10 minutes
  5. Take 50μL of supernatant and add to 950μL of sample dilution solution, mix well
  6. Take 50μL of mixed solution for detection
